Nicholas Walton LTD co-designed the bed frame and decorative foot-end posts with Salvesen Graham, developing the piece around the proportions, detailing and final upholstered finish required for the Principal Bedroom scheme.

The project called for close coordination between the cabinet-making, design and upholstery requirements, ensuring the frame, canopy and shaped cornice would provide the correct structure for the finished installation.

The vaulted ceiling canopy was shaped and constructed from marine plywood sections, designed to provide the correct structure and tolerances for the final upholstered finish.

This hidden framework was a key part of the project, allowing the intended aesthetic to be achieved while giving the upholstery team the substrate they needed for the completed scheme.

This type of unseen structural work is central to many high-end interior projects. The finished appearance depends on the accuracy of the underlying framework, especially where upholstery, shaped surfaces and decorative detailing must align precisely.

The bed posts and frame were made in mahogany, with carved elements, decorative foot-end posts and solid brass-faced lower feet produced by Nicholas Walton LTD.

Each element was developed to sit within the wider Principal Bedroom scheme, balancing traditional furniture-making detail with the practical requirements of a contemporary exhibition installation.

Once installed at WOW!house 2026, the completed four poster bed formed the centrepiece of Salvesen Graham’s Principal Bedroom scheme at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour.

The finished room shows how Nicholas Walton LTD’s structural and decorative work supported the wider interior scheme, allowing the upholstered canopy, shaped headboard, decorative posts and surrounding details to come together as a complete installation.
